著名民乐指挥家兼作曲家杨春林，毕业于中央音乐学院指挥系。现为中国音乐家协会会员，中国民族管弦乐学会常务理事，中国民族管弦乐学会指挥专业委员会秘书长，中国民族管弦乐学会作曲家联谊会副主任。中国人民解放军艺术学院音乐系客席教授，中国人民大学兼职教授。中国东方歌舞团（国家歌舞团）国家一级指挥。
　　长期以来从事中国民族音乐特别是民族管弦乐的指挥、创作.演出及研究。自1978年由人民音乐出版社出版了第一首作品以来，已有相当数量的作品问世。其中二胡曲《陕北抒怀》《影》在1984年全国第三届音乐作品比赛中双双获奖；1991年又以小合奏《丝竹新韵》在全国性比赛中获奖。1992年在全国青年歌手电视大奖赛中任指挥。1994年应新加坡南洋艺术学院邀请，在新加坡维多利亚音乐厅举办了首场个人作品音乐会。1995年又应香港演艺学院邀请并亲自执棒在香港举办了第二场个人作品音乐会。1997年在中央电视台《北京大学一百周年校庆》节目中指挥中央广播民族乐团演出《光明行》。1998年10月，应中央民族歌舞团之邀担任该团民乐队客席指挥出席香港艺术节开幕式，在香港大会堂演出了专场民族音乐会。1998年在北京音乐厅设计并举办了十二场学生音乐欣赏系列音乐会，并亲自担任主讲。由于其创意独特.形式新颖而受到新闻媒体的广泛关注和广大观众的欢迎。1999年在中央电视台春节歌舞晚会又指挥中央广播民族乐团演出《十二生肖联奏》，1999年12月31日在中央电视台喜迎千僖龙年大型电视晚会上指挥中国电影乐团民乐团演奏了民乐名曲《金蛇狂舞》。1999年1月应邀参加台北市立国乐团举办的第十二届作曲研讨会，担任主讲和作曲指导。发表了名为《多元和声分析试论》的论文并全文发表在《北市国乐》上。2000年7月，又应香港青少年国乐团邀请赴港参加该团十周年团庆，并在团庆音乐会上担任客席指挥。2001年八月,担任首届《中州杯》全国少儿民族乐队邀请赛组委会副秘书长和评委.2002年12月应邀担任马来西亚首届全国华乐大赛评委.2003年2月带领江苏省江阴市天华艺术学校民族乐团在奥地利维也纳金色大厅演出，为中国在此音乐厅演出的第一个学校民族乐团。2005年创作的民族室内乐《行云》获文化部颁发的文华奖。2006年担任《全国首届歌舞杂技优秀剧目展演》评委。曾与中央乐团、中央歌剧芭蕾舞剧院交响乐团、中国歌剧舞剧院交响乐团和民族乐团、中央民族乐团、中国广播民族乐团、中央音乐学院青年民族乐团等许多著名乐团进行进行过卓有成效的合作。指挥举办过《乐海冲浪》《火树银花不夜天》等音乐会数十场。
　　在业余时间还担任中国人民大学民乐团、北京市第三十五中民乐团和北京市翠微小学民乐团常任指挥。1997年曾带领北京市第三十五中民乐团夺得北京市中小学生艺术节一等奖第一名，并于1998年带领该团赴台湾访问演出，1999年赴香港演出，2002年赴欧洲演出。1999至2005曾带领北京市翠微小学民乐团连续四届夺得北京市中小学生艺术节一等奖，并带领该团于2000年赴澳门演出，2001年赴欧洲演出。1999年带领中国人民大学民乐团在全国大学生艺术节中夺的一等奖，2001年带领该团在香港文化中心音乐厅演出，均获成功。从1999年至2006年每年在北京国家级的音乐厅和剧院举办一场专场音乐会，曲目基本上不重复。并由中央电视台多次播出。并带领该团与中国唱片总公司合作录制了《丝竹新韵》《滇池随想》《龙魂》《热情奏响》四盘CD和《海内外优秀民乐作品》VCD。
　　另外，还曾指挥过中央乐团、中央民族乐团等国内许多著名乐团录制过《黄河》《梁祝》《二泉映月》《江河水》《穆桂英挂帅》《长恨绵绵》《春潮》及合唱专辑 《山里的孩子》 等磁带。.曾为喜剧电影《向着新生活前进》作曲，另有电视片《送你一路吉祥》作曲及许多电视电影的编曲及指挥。
　 在繁忙的指挥工作之余仍坚持各种音乐作品的创作，主要作品有：民乐合奏《音乐会序曲》，《中国民歌主题变奏-小白菜》，《青春之序》《茉莉花开知多少》《热情奏响》，《丝竹新韵》《美丽的凤尾竹》。双胡琴协奏曲《长恨歌》，琵琶随想曲《千秋颂》，扬琴独奏曲《鸟之舞》《天空》，大型合奏《补天》及民族交响诗《龙魂》等`。并出版有个人作品专辑CD《幽兰》《秋菊》《花神》，合作创作的《竹韵》《飞天》《天唱》等CD。其中《天唱》中由本人创作的《雪山晒佛》一曲被文化部作为唯一的一首新创器乐曲收录在庆祝西藏自治区成立四十周年礼品CD中。2002年在人民音乐发表题为《中国民族管弦乐若干问题初探》的论文。曾出访德国、法国、朝鲜、比利时、荷兰、马来西亚等国家。

Mr. Zhao is one of the top-notch Erhu performing artists and most renowned Erhu educationalists in China. Born in Changzhou, Jiangsu in 1954, Zhao was accepted by the Central Conservatory of Music in 1977 to take advanced Erhu education and polish his already outstanding playing techniques after having been a professional for several years. He studied under one of the senior Erhu celebrities – Professor Wang Guotong and graduated with honors in 1982. Since then he has been teaching in the Department of Traditional Instruments in the school, the incubator of the best Chinese traditional instrumentalists, with hundreds of students from all over the world. Zhao held the chair in the department between 2000 and 2005, and is currently a professor and the Chair Emeritus of the department. He serves in the advisory board of Chinese national Erhu grade test and the council of China Nationalities Orchestra Society. He is also the deputy director of China Erhu Academy, a member of Chinese Musicians' Association and an award winner of Ou Yongxi Excellent Music Educator granted by Chinese Ministry of Culture and recognized by Hong Kong SGI for his outstanding achievements in Chinese instrumental music.

Zhao has appeared on the stages in UK, Ireland, Iraq, Finland, Switzerland, Holland, and Singapore with several Chinese high-profile professional musical groups and also performed and lectured in Germany, France, Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan. During the past thirty years, he has authored and co-authored forty-four books and video products in Erhu, published nearly one hundred journal papers and more than ten musical works in national first grade musical journals, and been a very active Erhu columnist for a number of best-selling newspapers. Meanwhile, he has been invited to judge in numerous national and international competitions and grade tests in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia, and in the professional skills appraisal test of Chinese Broadcasting Traditional Instrumental Music Group. Since 1997, Zhao has conducted solos and duets with other prodigies at the music hall of Hong Kong Cultural Center, Beijing International Arts Saloon, and Chinese National Center for the Performing Arts, etc. In 1991, Zhao recorded Chinese first educational TV program of traditional instrumental music with CCTV. He has released multiple Erhu solo albums since 1994 as well. His students won the top prizes in a variety of competitions such as ART Cup Chinese Traditional Instrumental Music International Competition, Chinese National Youth Erhu Competition, and Taipei Traditional Instrumental Music Concerto Competition, and so on. In the last couple of years, Zhao has recorded and published more than a dozen of Erhu educational DVDs with over fifty hours in total length; many of them are the best sellers in their categories.

In the past twenty years, Mr. Zhao Hanyang has been the most prolific producer of Erhu educational products worldwide and has been widely recognized as the leader in Erhu pedagogy, especially in youth Erhu education. The Arts Center established after his name in 2006 has grown the largest cradle of Erhu artists in the world. Zhao's biography is included in a long list of international dictionaries.
